~
Deputy Chief Gary Schofield is in charge of Professional Standards Department of LVMPD. It relates to officers responsibilities and  Internal Affairs.
His career’s experiences as a police officer  include  operations  and narcotics department.  In his presentation,  he spoke about the recent shooting
incident at a local Wal-Mart. The suspect had fraudulent credit cards and when approached by police officers, he pulled again and shot at them. One
officer was wounded. Another officer ran toward the suspect and shot at him. This officer displayed great courage for doing so. This kind of response
by officers is the result of the excellent training received at the Police Academy. Deputy Chief Schofield then spoke about the Ambassadors of Hope

Schofield emphasized on the committed  effort of everyone involved  to  get the homeless people off the streets and into shelters. Homeless people
live an average of 35 days per year on the street. Outreach programs’ goal is to get rid of homeless people’s habit to live on the street.  Deputy Chief
Schofield praised as  well all the Metro Volunteers for trying to make a difference in other people’s lives.  He also spoke about gangs, and the tireless
work of Homeland Security  in keeping residents and visitors safe.  His theme for the night was “courage to do the right thing”.  He ended the meeting
by taking questions from the audience.  Judging by his honesty and caring attitude,  all attendees were convinced that Deputy Chief Schofield is truly
dedicated to serving his officers and the society at large.
