Undersheriff Jim Dixon began his presentation to our members with some oh his memories that led him to become a Metro police officer, and today the
second in command as our Undersheriff.  In the 1980’s, he was in the military and then, at age 22, he began his civilian life as a security officer for the
Fremont Hotel. He used to go fishing in Utah with a gentleman from Utah, a big man and a police officer named Carl Armstrong. Carl helped Jim get a
job in 1984 as a correction officer at our local jail. In 1985 he attended the police academy and the rest is history. Undersheriff Dixon has been a member
of LVMPD for the past 28 years. He believes in respecting the law and in treating people with respect. He served as a police officer, SWAT and Sergeant
on the Las Vegas Strip and has been a team leader for 15 years. In 2005, he became a Lieutenant. Undersheriff Dixon then spent 30 minutes answering
questions from the audience. He displayed a wide knowledge of the many facets of LVMPD business.  He spent time  to explain the budget  as it  is now
during those difficult economic times. Judging by his enthusiasm, it was clear to all members present that he totally enjoys his job as COO to the Sheriff.
Undersheriff Dixon is a great human being. His knowledge of the department inspires confidence to all his staff that Metro will succeed in its undertakings
with him and the Sheriff leading the way. Another great evening at the LVCPAAA.
